Top Ten Modern Kids Room Ideas

It seems that kids room decor is getting trendier and more sophisticated than ever before.  Designers are taking a much more sophisticated and modern approach to kids decor so that their rooms will grow with them, and I love it!

I recently started to think about redecorating my daughter’s bedroom and have been so shocked by all the different options in the kids decor aisles. Move over princess sheets and rocket ship pillow cases, and bring on all the flamingos and vintage super hero figures! Take a look at these top ten kids room trends and keep them in mind when you’re decorating a nursery or redoing your own kid’s room!

Scandinavian Style

Clean lines, natural and light wood elements and of course tons of white.  It can be intimidating when you think of these elements in a child’s room but if you add a few soft color accents to warm up the space like rugs and pillows, it’ll feel just like a kids room.

Fun Colors

Fun playful colors can really set the tone to a child’s bedroom.  Going towards more aqua blue and bold oranges can help modernize the child’s decor.

Work Space

Adding funky yet functional work space elements to a children’s room will help set the tone.  They can do art work or their homework in a space that will encourage their creativity.

Glam

Obviously being a mom to a diva, this is my favorite way to mondaine a kids bedroom.  Adding glamours features to a kids room will really bring out their dramatic side and translate it around the space they live in.

Tiny Boho

Adding vintage rugs, whimsical light fixtures, and relaxing colors to any kids space will bring in that boho chicness to their tiny spaces.

Playing with Patterns

Adding different patterns in a child’s room will make it feel colorful, creative, and very cool.

Layers

Arranging a collection of  toys, vintage dolls, or even animals on shelves or their headboard will bring layers of fun to a child’s bedroom decor.

Moroccan Themed

Think pink zebra print, bold green banana leaf patterns and lots of other fun spins on the general zoo theme rooms.

Flamingos

Since blush is a having a major moment in the interior design world, what better way to incorporate this color in your child’s room than with flamingos.  You can pull all different complementary colors to give the room an bold yet sophisticated room.

Day Bed

Bunk beds were the way to go back in the day, but day beds are the new trend.  Having two day beds sibling rooms is a perfect way to give the children’s bedroom a grown up feel.
