Sunday Funday Fashion: Crawfish Boil

This past Sunday I attended a crawfish boil in my neighborhood. Although I am not at all about digging in to the cuisine, I love any excuse to get together with neighbors, day drink, and wear a cute outfit.

My mini shopping spree at SouthPark Mall on Friday consists of searching for the perfect Cinco de Mayo ensemble. Details on my 5th of May fiesta coming soon. As I browse the racks, I find quite a few items to try on. I walk out with more than I plan, of course.

Jean Trend

Jean skirts, jackets, dresses, and overalls are popping up all over stores lately. They are basic pieces that can be styled all year round. I choose a dark wash Topshop jumper — the skirts and jacket already hang in my home closet. On Sunday I match the dress with a pure white, cropped tank top underneath to stay somewhat cool. I cannot wait to wear this in the fall with tights and a turtleneck.

Put A(n) (Ear)ring On It

I am into big earrings lately. They are a fun and bold way to accessorize. The fringe is very in! Below are some of my earring picks similar to the black and gold pair I bought at Nordstrom.

Think Pink Lip

A bright pink lip is perfect for spring. My new favorite is Maybelline’s SuperStay ¬†Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick in the shade “Romantic”. The arrow-shaped applicator allows for precise application — especially fitting for perfectionists like myself. And the color is long-lasting, even after eating and/or drinking. Below are some similar shades to try.

Let’s hear your thoughts on the jean trend! Is it overkill or do you enjoy the 90s flashback?
